join us on a creative car countdown like no other, as we take a look at 2017’s most awesome automotive ads
Thanks to big ideas and creativity, car ads are regularly ranked amongst the advertising industry’s greatest. We’ve taken a look at some of our favourite show-stopping auto ads that graced our screens last year.
celebrating the 4 millionth brit-built Astra | Vauxhall
This year, Vauxhall wanted to shine a light on the iconic Ellesmere Port plant in Cheshire, where production of the 4 millionth Astra took place. In this fast-paced ad, Vauxhall deliver a large dose of nostalgia combined with simple storytelling, which serves as a great reminder of the Astra’s importance on Britain’s roads over the past 40 years.
clowns | Audi
Even by Audi’s consistently brilliant standards, ‘Clowns’ stands out as a true masterpiece of modern automotive advertising. Even though car safety is no laughing matter, Audi have somehow managed to fuse humour with beautiful visuals to ensure the ad’s key message is as impactful as it is captivating. After all, even though Audi can’t stop people driving like clowns, they can build a car that helps protect its owner from them.
the first-ever BMW X2 | BMW
No doubt a subtle nod to Apple’s iconic ‘1984’ TV spot, BMW explore the idea of breaking away from the shackles of conformity. What better way to do this than with the first-ever X2: the perfect bold, uncompromising vehicle to help you break free and stand out from the proverbial crowd.
parking lot | Audi
Audi’s second advert to make the list manages to do what many brands struggle to: make a good Christmas ad! Obviously we’d never condone driving recklessly in a multi storey car park – or anywhere for that matter - but by over-dramatising a frantic search for a parking space, the ad manages to strike the right kind of humour while reminding viewers of the power of an Audi sports car.
Tesla | Roadster
0-60? 1.9 seconds. The time it takes to watch this Roadster ad and want one? Even less still! This ad marvels in its own simplicity, and it is the one that gets our pulses racing – quite literally. Not too dissimilar to a Gran Turismo trailer, if this ad doesn’t make you want to start playing the Lottery every week just so you can afford one, then we don’t know what will…
